CFV Weekly Update 20th October, 2017
We don’t have many cards this week, but we did get the last of the rare Link Joker cards. ‘Star-vader, Strange Dragon’ is yet more ‘Chaos’ support. His first skill is “[AUTO]:When this unit is placed on (RC), if you have a vanguard with “Chaos” in its card name, until end of turn, this unit gets “[AUTO](RC):When this unit attacks or boosts, if it is an attack that a vanguard is being attacked, your opponent chooses one of his or her rear-guards, and locks it. If he or she could not lock a unit, this unit gets [Power]+5000 until end that battle.”.” Now this is a Grade 2, but he does also have the skill of “[CONT](RC) Generation Break 1:If your opponent has a locked card, this card gets “Boost”.” You should be able to fulfil this condition for most of the game once you hit Grade 3. The first skill also works really well against Mirage decks, for when you can’t normally Lock many units.
A new Perfect Guard for ‘Messiahs’ is ‘Prayer Child of Steady State Cosmo’. She has Sentinel, and she can Perfect Guard from hand as long as you have a Vanguard with the race of Messiah. Then she has “[ACT](Drop Zone) Generation Break 1:[Bind this card face up & Choose two of your rear-guards, and lock them] Draw a card.” Depending on what you can manage that turn, this isn’t really a cost and can actually end up benefiting you, as well as giving you what is basically a free draw.
Lastly for Link Joker we have been shown the second GR ‘Genesis Dragon, Harmonics Neo Messiah’. Her skill is “[AUTO](VC) Generation Break 3:[Choose a face down card from your G zone, and turn it face up] When this unit attacks, if your heart card is <Messiah>, you may pay the cost. If you do, unlock all locked cards, choose all of your units that were unlocked, until end of turn, they get [Power]+5000, and this unit gets [Power]+5000 for each card that was unlocked. If five or more cards were unlocked, until end of that battle, your opponent cannot call grade 1 or greater cards from hand to (GC).” This is another reason why the new Perfect Guard is going to be great. It’s also not hard to have lots of attacks going through, and having your rear-guards Lock themselves or Lock each other after their battles, letting you have extra attacks with Power buffs. Depending on how many you Unlock, it can make it extremely difficult for your opponent to Guard this attack. Luckily she doesn’t gain any Criticals. If that were the case, then this card would be ridiculous.
For G-BT13 we have three new cards. The first one is a Cray Elemental G Guardian, ‘Mixed Element, Colburn’. It’s skill is “[AUTO]:[Choose a card from your hand, and discard it] When this unit is placed on (GC) during the battle that your opponent’s vanguard attacked, you may pay the cost. If you do, this unit gets [Shield]+5000 until end of that battle for every two cards in your opponent’s hand.” This is a great card for some of the Sub Clans who didn’t get many G Guards that work with them, who are too costly. It also kind of helps ‘Luard’ decks to increase Ritual more easily if you’re not at the point where you can use ‘Plotmaker Dragon’.
‘Thermic Shot Nurse’ is a Grade 2 with 8000 Power for Angel Feather. She has “[AUTO] Generation Break 1:When this card is put into the drop zone from your damage zone, Soul Charge (1), if it is due to the effect of your card with the rescue ability, you may call this card to (RC).” This is pretty similar to ‘Ke’el’ but giving resources instead of gaining Power. As well as helping ‘Eleleth’, the Soul Charge might be telling us that the new ‘Gravrails’ may be using the Soul more.
Lastly we have the very nice Critical Trigger for Kagero, ‘Fire Chase Dragon’. It has “[AUTO](RC) Generation Break 1:[Retire this unit] When your opponent’s unit in the same column as this unit is retired during your turn, you may pay the cost. If you do, retire all of your opponent’s rear-guards in the same column as this unit.” When using something like ‘Ziegenburg’, throwing away a Trigger for an extra Retire doesn’t even seem so bad, because if you didn’t, ‘Ziegenburd’ would require you to drop a card anyway. I can see this Trigger being used in most Kagero decks.
