CFV Weekly Update 24th Feb, 2017

Throughout the week we have seen many cards from Granblue and Pale Moon.

Diabolist of Corpse, Negrosonger is first up as a new stride for Granblue. He has “[AUTO](VC):[Counter Blast (1) & Choose a face down card with the same card name as this unit from your G zone, and turn it face up & Choose a card from your hand, and discard it] At the end of the battle that this unit attacked, you may pay the cost. If you do, look at four cards from the top of your deck, put up to one card into your drop zone from among them, shuffle your deck, choose a card from your drop zone, call it to (RC), and it gets [Power]+5000 for each face up card in your G zone until end of turn.” So not only can it be used in any Granblue build, but it scores you extra attacks. It can also be used as a first stride, and works well late game too. An all around good stride for Granblue.

G Guardians are coming in single R rarity this time around, and Granblue's G Guard is Diabolist of Tombs, Negromode. She has “[AUTO]:[Soul Blast (1)] When this unit is placed on (GC), if the number of cards in your drop zone is five or more, you may pay the cost. If you do, until end of that battle, this unit gets [Shield]+5000, then, if there are ten or more, this unit gets [Shield]+5000, and then, if there are fifteen or more, this unit gets [Shield]+5000.” Who doesn't love the idea of having 30k shield for one soul blast? Sure it takes a lot of prep but you should easily be able to meet this condition in the late game, protecting yourself from most attacks.

Pirate King of Redemption, Dragut is the first of the GR cards for this set. He has the ACT skill of “(VC)[1/Turn] Generation Break 2:[Counter Blast (2) & Choose a card from your hand, and discard it] Choose cards from your drop zone up to the same number of rear-guards you have, call them to separate (RC), for each called unit that has the hollow ability, your opponent chooses one of his or her rear-guards, and retires it. If your opponent has no rear-guards, draw a card.” If you wanted to, you could have a full field and use this skill to potentially wipe out your opponent's whole field. The enemy of this skill is resist, but the cost isn't even that high when you have Grenache around. So both great for filling your ranks, and wiping out your opponent's rear-guards. A very great card.

Seawall Banshee is the new sentinel for Granblue who is a perfect guard that must be placed on GC from hand for the PG effect, but can protect rear-guards as well as the Vanguard, and she also has hollow. Her last ability is “[AUTO] Generation Break 2:[Soul Blast (1) & Choose a card from your hand, and discard it & Choose one other "Seawall Banshee" from your drop zone, and put it on the bottom of your deck] When this hollowed unit is retired, if you have a vanguard with "Nightrose" in its card name, you may pay the cost. If you do, return this card to your hand.” The interesting thing is that she doesn't have to be retired by hollow so if your opponent manages to retire her on your turn, you can still put her into your hand. The only problem I see with this card is the soul blast, as the soul is very fought over already, but this card is probably worth it. Waterspout Djinn isn't overly needed when Granblue have other great ways of counter charging.

Ocean Depths Zombie Whale is a 12k Grade 3 promo for Granblue. It has Hollow and “[AUTO](RC) Generation Break 1: When this unit attacks a vanguard, if this unit is hollowed, it gets [Power]+1000 for each two cards in your drop zone until the end of that battle.” With the downside being “[CONT](VC/RC):This unit gets [Power]-3000 if you have less than five cards in your drop zone.” This is generally a very good backup grade 3 and I can see it being used in Nightrose decks as it can get very strong very quickly. The CONT ability is very easy to avoid in Granblue so you will be normally going in for very high numbers with this card. It may be wise to run a couple of this card when it comes out. Some people may prefer to run Gast Dragon, but Gast Dragon does come with the mill cost when he attacks, which can lead to you decking out.

Jester Demonic Dragon, Wandering Dragon is a G Guard for Pale Moon, and yet again, a single R. “[AUTO]:When this unit is placed on (GC), Soul Charge (1), choose a card from your soul, and call it to (GC).” This is really nice for when you have soul charged triggers or standard perfect guards, which Silver Thorn players, such as myself, should be happy about as we tend to keep a hold of Lydia for her Silver Thorn title, and she can occasionally get stuck in the soul. It can also be used for Harri players if you are willing to change your counter charge perfect guard or Lovely Companion for a standard perfect guard, which may be the best option seeing as how much blind soul charging Harri decks do.
