Cardfight!! Vanguard Weekly Card Update #3

Welcome back to our weekly update on all the Vanguard news! This week, we have found out about some great support for Genesis and Angel Feathers, while some new cards have been revealed for Neo Nectar, Megacolony, Shadow Paladins and Jewel Knights. Meanwhile, fans of the Vanguard Gaiden manga will be excited that Blaster Blade Ahmes and Laura are set to be included in G Comic Booster 1 as well as a Deletor used by Ibuki from the manga.

Three new cards have been revealed for Genesis. We now have Reflecting Regalia, Mirror Angel as a Limit Break enabler, while Witches gain a new Grade 1 and a Critical Trigger. The Trigger, ‘Witch’s Familiar, Shiroma’, can return to the deck to allow the user to draw a card, look at three cards from the top of the deck, and add one to the soul and the others to the Drop Zone. Being able to reuse a Trigger is nice, especially when it replaces itself and allows the user to set up the Soul. Witch of Melons, Thyme has a similar effect, allowing the user to look at the top three cards of the deck, add one to the Soul, and the others to the Drop Zone. With these cards, it is easy to make sure Witch of Ravens, Chamomile, Witch of White Hares, Cardamom and Witch of Frogs, Melissa end up in the Soul. Further, it fills up the Drop Zone, allowing for an early Legion, a key tactic in Witches.

Angel Feather receive a lot of love in this set, with some powerful new cards! Crimson Impact, Metatron receives a new form in Crimson Lore, Metatron, gaining the ability to Call even face-down units in the Damage Zone, as well as being able to return cards from the Damage Zone to hand. She also adds rear-guards into the soul before placing them into the Damage Zone as part of her effect, making it significantly easier to have her original form in the Soul. Clumsy Celestial, Batrael is a new Legion with two potential mates (Dosage Celestial, Asmodel and Seizing Celestial, Hael). Her abilities are not overly strong, but can be used to fill the field, as well as not being restricted to Celestials. Invert Celestial, Asbeel (pictured) is able to use her ability in the Damage Zone, provided the vanguard is a Celestial. She can shuffle herself back into the deck and search the top three cards for a card to add to the Damage Zone, except herself, granting Angel Feathers greater consistency. If a player gets extremely lucky (roughly a one in five thousand chance) they will check three copies of her, and then heal the damage for free. Holy Seraph, Raziel is a new Stride, and at a Soul Blast of two, he shuffles all cards in the Damage Zone into the deck, and puts an equal number of cards from the top of the deck into the Damage Zone face-up. This allows the player to unflip all damage and significantly power up both Thousand Ray Pegasus and Million Ray Pegasus, and so will be a extremely useful tool for Angel Feather users!

Neo Nectar have a new starter in Maiden of Delphinium, who can copy the name of another unit during your turn. This is an easy way to ensure that your Sacred Tree Dragon, Multivitamin Dragons and other such cards get as much value as possible. This is currently only a promo and we’re not sure how available it will be for the English release. Meanwhile, the art for Maiden of Rambling Rose has been revealed, but the effects are currently unknown. It is possible that it is a Cross Ride or Revival Legion, but we’ll have to wait to find out for sure!

In other news, the alternate form of Supremacy Black Dragon, Aurageyser Dragon has been revealed! The new Stride unit is called Supremacy Black Dragon, Aurageyser Damned, and has a currently unique cost. To use his abilities, he must turn a copy of Aurageyser Dragon face-up, rather than another copy of himself. In return for this, he has a similar effect to the original, adding the top two cards of the deck to his owner’s hand, but he retires opponent’s rear-guards instead of gaining power. He can therefore use this powerful ability up to four times in a single game, at the cost of dedicating the entire G Zone to both forms of himself. You may want to use Aurageyser Dragon first so when you get to Aurageyser Damned the last part of his ability, giving him an extra critical if there are three or more face-up Aurageyser Dragons.

Gear Chronicle receive a Grade 1 version of Silent Tom in the form of Forethought Gear Fox, who does not allow the opponent to guard with Grade 0s when he attacks. His low power is a drawback, easily being able to be retired on the opponent’s turn, but if he is boosted by a Mist Geyser Dragon or a Brass-winged Gear Hawk, he can form an extremely powerful column (easily being able to get to 42000 power!). Royal Paladins get a new Critical Trigger in Straight Jewel Knight, Bartram. At the end of the turn, he can return to the deck and allow the owner to draw a card, allowing him to be recycled at no cost. This card is great for Broken Heart Jewel Knight, Ashlei “Reverse” as she allows you to lock Bartram and then activate his ability once he is unlocked. On a similar note, Machining Firefly adds more options to Megacolony Machining decks, again being a Critical Trigger. When it is placed on the field, it can stand another rear-guard and prevent an opponent’s rear-guard from standing. This can be used to stand units called at rest by Machining Warsickle or Machining Stag Beetle, as well as helping to stun the opponent’s field.

In G Comic Booster 1, we will be receiving the forms of various Paladin units before their famous forms. This includes Blaster Blade (called Ahmes) and Blaster Rapier (who was called Laura before becoming corrupted in the manga). Further, the art for Docking Deleter Graywon has been revealed, but no effects have been confirmed other than the fact that it is able to delete. All names and effects are yet to be finalised, but Paladin players will certainly look forward to playing with the forms of units from the manga and Deletor fans will be glad for the needed support.

That concludes this week’s weekly card update, so check back next week for more news!
